Internship is a period of learning in a practical work setting provided by an employer. Interns are given exposure to the professional environment in a limited period, which can last long from 2 weeks to 12 months. Internship is usually related to the individual’s interest or study. Whereas, job seeker is Individual who are actively looking for employment opportunity and waiting for vacancies from the company.
One of the
key differences between internship and job seeker is that one is focusing on
career prospect and the later is focusing on career stability. Internship are
mostly advertised to students or fresh undergraduates this is because the
program is seen as a steppingstone and test to understanding the industry or
the chosen position. However, job seeker looks for employment for career
stability which will influence a few factors such as their financial stability
and career goals.
Another key
difference is internship could be paid or unpaid, because the aim of interns is
to gain work experience by applying their knowledge and develop their skills
during the program. Some company offer incentives, but it is not required.
Company focus on attracting interns by promoting the skill focus and layout of
the program. Whereas, employment is paid
work, job seeker is usually trying to search for a job with the best pay and
benefits. Employers uses salary and benefits to attract employees and encourage
them to apply for the vacant position.
Lastly, company
are very lenient when it comes to hiring interns. Since interns are a
temporary, extra assistance in running a business and with the purpose to
learn, they don’t require interns to have work experience, they are also not
strict with the academic qualification. On the other hand, you will expect
company to be more demanding on the type of employee they want or looking for
to fill their available position. They look for a very specific candidates with
the right requirement and qualification for the job.
We can
conclude that interns are those who are getting experience in different
organisation and exposed in day to day business operation, learning to apply
their knowledge in the real professional world. While, job seeker is in search
of job with the main focus on gaining career and financial stability.
